Like any electronic product, it may happen that your Storyteller encounters some problems. Most of these can be solved by some very simple manipulations. This document will guide you through the steps to get your Storyteller back in shape.

Driver installation ( Mac )

If you encounter any problems during the installation of the driver please follow the instructions below.




When you try to install the driver for Mac on a Macintosh computer, the installation fails and you receive an error:

  • Installed failed
  • The installation failed. The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail.


ISSUE 1: Troubleshoot the problem

Step 1: Try installing in Safe Mode Boot

When you start your Operating System (OS) using a normal startup, several applications and services start automatically, and then run in the background. These programs include basic system processes, antivirus software, system utility applications, and other software that has been previously installed. These applications and services can cause interference when you install or run Office for Mac.

Prerequisites Check

The following requirements before you follow any of the methods in this article.

  • You must be logged on as an administrator or as a member of the Administrators group to perform the methods discussed in this article.

To find out if the problem is related to background programs or services, exist to Safe Mode and then install the driver. To exist to Safe Mode, follow these steps:

  1. Shut down the computer. Click Apple icon and then choose Shut Down …
  2. Start your computer by pressing the power button.
  3. Immediately after you hear the startup tone, press and hold the SHIFT key. Note: The SHIFT key should be held as soon as possible after you hear the startup tone. However, do not press the SHIFT key before you hear the startup tone.
  4. Release the SHIFT key when you see the gray Apple and progress indicator on the screen. The progress indicator looks similar to a spinning gear. This might take a while (up to 2 minutes) so dont reboot again. During startup, you will see ” Safe Boot ” on the login window, which appears even if you normally log in automatically:
  • After the computer starts, try to start the driver setup to determine whether the problem is resolved.
  • If the problem does not occur after you restart, the interference is occurring because of a background program or service.
  • If the problem returns after you perform a clean startup, the interference is not occurring because of a background program or service. In this case, this article cannot resolve your problem. Reboot your computer to return to normal startup.

If the issue continues to occur, proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Create new user profile

Creating a new user will help determine whether the error is limited to just the user or is system wide. To do this, follow these steps:

Note: If the product installs on a new user account, contact Apple Support to troubleshoot your existing account. If you do not wish to keep your existing account, you can rename your Test account.



1. Click the Apple icon then click System Preferences.



2. Click Accounts.



3. Click the Plus sign [+] in the lower left corner to open the new account window. Note: If you are not the Administrator of the computer, to be able to add an account, click Click the lock to make changes. Login using your Administrator user name and password and then click OK.



4. Enter the word Test for the user name and leave the password box blank. Click Create Account. When you receive a warning, click OK.



5. Click to checkmark Allow User to Administer this computer (If you do not have this check mark, proceed to next step).



6. Click the Apple icon then click Logout out <Account name> of your original account.



7. Login with your Test account. Try installing the driver on your Test account.

If the issue continues to occur, proceed to the next step.

Step 3: Disable antivirus programs

To determine whether the problem is occurring because of antivirus software, temporarily disable your antivirus. Contact the program manufacturer to help you disable the program.

If disabling the antivirus program resolves the issue, contact the antivirus software manufacturer for instructions about how to configure your antivirus to work with the driver.
